Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project- Memphis
Country music singers GARTH BROOKS and TRISHA YEARWOOD sneak a kiss before going back to work on a Habitat for Humanity house in Memphis on Tuesday. They were helping, Former President JIMMY CARTER build homes for the needy in Memphis during the for the 33rd annual Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project. They’re building 19 homes for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis. The Former President Jimmy Carter said Monday that he put on "a false, optimistic face" and that "I just thought I had a few weeks to live." He was not sure he'd live long enough to come to Memphis this summer. He announced on Aug. 14, 2015, that he'd had a mass removed from his liver and that he'd been diagnosed with cancer which emerged that melanoma spots had reached his brain. However, by the grace of God, he was onsite with hundreds of volunteers building new homes and a new neighborhood in needy North Memphis.
What an inspiration to watch this man continue to give of himself into his 90's by teaching about the bible in Sunday school, building homes for the needy and inspiring others with his example.
The great Catholic saint, St. Francis of Assisi said, "Go out and preach the gospel, use words only when necessary"
