While photographing the poor and hungry this week, I sat down and talked with one of the men while he ate his PB&J. Turns out he is a Vietnam veteran, named Carl Williams. He is 64 and he was an ammunition specialist. He showed me his military ring of which he is very proud.
He likes to go to the soup kitchen because he says there are people there like him, people he can talk to.
"I've seen over 300 body bags. But God spared me, I was not in one of them. I don't know what Gods purpose for me is. I am still looking, I am still listening and I am waiting for him to reveal it to me."
Happy Veterans Day Carl.
